Microdot technology to aid police
Owners of stolen goods easily identifiable with microdotting.

MICRODOTTING company, Recoveri, as part of its social responsibility programme has donated 250 bottles of microdots to Montclair SAP.
The company identified a number of police stations to donate the microdots to, one of them being Montclair police station. Microdots can be placed on vehicles as well as household items. These microdots allow the owner of the property to be easily identified, in case items are stolen during a robbery. They are invisible to the naked eye and any number of dots may be placed on an item.
According to Montclair Community Policing Forum’s (CPF) chairman, Gavin Hegter, there have been a number of cases where people were charged with possession of stolen property through the microdotting system. Montclair CPF invites community members to attend a CPF meeting at 6.30pm on Wednesday, 26 March where certain community members will be selected to receive free microdot packs.
“The beauty of microdotting is that if a criminal knows products are marked, they will immediately know the stolen good is unsellable. Second hand dealers will also know to check under a UV light to see if the product is stolen. Police also recover many goods which cannot be traced to their rightful owner. Microdots will help to easily identify the owners to their stolen goods,” said Gavin.
