SDCEA to highlight SDB water issues in Germany
An SDCEA member is in Germany to discuss water sustainability and conservation.
WITH World Water Day on Saturday, 22 March, Wentworth’s own, Precious Mazibuk of the South Durban Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) left for Germany on Monday, 17 March to participate in a water conference for youth, highlighting problems throughout the world.
Selected as a South African representative, 20-year-old Mazibuk will speak about water problems in the South Durban Basin (SDB) and possibilities for sustainability, while learning methods used in other countries.
She started volunteering at SDCEA in 2011 after she attended a SDCEA information seminar and hasn’t looked back since, participating in marches, toxic tours, the 2013 climate camp and the global day of action for COP 17 in 2011.
“I hope to come back from this conference, confident and able to inspire other youth in the SDB to get involved in their community,” said Mazibuk, before she set out on her first trip overseas.
“Water protection is important to all of us and hopefully, I will be able to educate people on this vital matter on my return.”
