Foetus parts found in packet

Blood trail leads to origin.

Montclair SAP is investigating a case of concealment of birth after a plastic packet with the remains of a foetus was found in a block of flats in Blamey Road on Monday, 24 March.

A security guard called the police to report a suspicious plastic packet abandoned near a palisade fence. The plastic packet was heavy, with blood filling half of it. Upon investigation, police found intestines and ribs inside the packet. A trail of blood led to a passageway from where the blood originated. The floors of the passageway had been cleaned.

A charge of concealment of birth is equatable to a charge of murder, which could result in a minimum sentence of 10 years in jail upon conviction. Police investigation continues.
