Braai Dukes aim for Ultimate Braai Master honours.

The pair are one of seven semi-finalists from the province who were announced on Tuesday, 25 March, after a gruelling set of auditions on Saturday, 22 March.

“The competition was challenging but we work well together,” said Kevin. As the youngest pair in the competition, both aged 21, their experience ranges as far as cooking for family. “We discussed the competition in December and we went for it.

We decided to do our best regardless of the competition we faced,” said braai master Milani. “Kevin and I know how to deal with each other and we find it easier to work with each other. Plus I’m older and I can boss him around,” said Milani, stamping his seniority of a few months.

Kevin, who matriculated at Rossburgh High School in 2011, said he was nervous and excited to find out if they had made the cut. “Making the finals would be amazing. We can go all the way. We can’t doubt ourselves otherwise everyone will doubt us. If we don’t make it, I would still be proud of the fact that we went for it,” said braai buddy, Kevin.

After the competition, Kevin plans on completing his industrial engineering degree. He also plans to expand his love of cooking and open a restaurant with his cousin.

Ultimate Braai Master finalists will be announced in April.
