TWO men were rescued by the PolIce Port of Entry Security yesterday, 3 April when their boat’s motor failed near the Durban Harbour.
According to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) website, at about 4pm the NSRI Durban volunteer sea rescue duty crew were alerted to the stricken men by Transnet National Ports Authority. The motor of their 5.5-metre boat had failed and they were at the mercy of the sea with wind conditions of up to 25 knots.
The police reached the two men first and towed them towards Wilson’s Wharf. The NSRI crew joined in the rescue and helped them to safely berth their boat. Neither of the men required medical assistance.
