Yard-hopping burglars on the prowl on Bluff
Residents are warned to be alert, as housebreakers will use any method to flee, such as running on top of roofs and jumping over walls.
HOUSEBREAKINGS within the Bluff, Grosvenor and Marlborough residential areas are of concern, Brighton Beach SAP said.
Police have noted an increase in yard-hopping in Brighton Beach SAP’s patrol area at night. Residents are warned to be alert, as housebreakers will use any method to flee, such as running on top of roofs and jumping over walls. Do not discount your dog’s barks as false alarms. Barking dogs can indicate which direction criminals are headed. If you hear or notice anything suspicious, press your panic button or call the police.
With the holiday season in full swing, an increase in migration crime is expected. The influx in visitors results in an increase of criminal elements. Residents and holidaymakers alike are urged to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times.
Parents are encouraged to teach their children to ensure all windows, doors and security gates are locked when they leave the property. Outbuildings should also be secured.
Personal property should be removed from vehicles when parking overnight or in public places, such as malls and beaches. If you see or know anyone who is buying or selling stolen property, it is your responsibility to report them. Call 08600-10111 to report any suspicious activity or call Brighton Beach SAP on 031-451-8059/60.
