Festive sing-along as Bushlands WI turns 49
Longest serving WI member in the group May Scott kindly cut the birthday cake.

MEMBERS of Bushlands Women’s Institute (WI) held their 49th birthday party in the form of a finger lunch at Bluff Bowling Club on Thursday, 7 August.
Also present were members from the other three institutes from Southern Hills Group, which included group executive Maureen Lavis, treasurer Denise Morgan and secretary Barbara Ilsley.
Music from the 50s was played, and lots of ‘sing-along’ tunes were enjoyed. Greetings were conveyed from other institutes with the wish that all would be present at Bushlands’ big 50th.
The snacks were delicious, and Bushlands women are to be congratulated on the cuisine. Woodlands WI honorary member and the longest-serving WI member in the group May Scott kindly cut the birthday cake. May also won the ‘parcel’ in the ‘pass-along’ competition. There were lots of raffle prizes, and just about everyone went home with one.
The only members missing from Bushlands were Marie Brown and Kay McKee, and good wishes are sent to them.
After a lovely party, guests departed with good feeling that comes with enjoying the company of good friends and fellow WI members.
