Woodlands BC to let fly with chicken run
On Friday the meat draw was won by Derek Botha, Bill Hewer and Rob de Wildt.

IT was a quiet week at Woodlands Bowling Club.
On Saturday afternoon the club hosted Cynthia McFarland’s plaque memorial, with her family placing her plaque on the wall of remembrance.
Thereafter everyone enjoyed snacks supplied by the sports club and a drink each supplied by Cynthia’s family.
The club sold a few swindle tickets and the winners were Gloria Rice, Joan Kimber, Dennis Tarboton, Craig Holtzhausen and Aubrey McFarland. Members then played ‘fun bowls’ with family and friends playing against each other and having a lot of fun, judging by all the laughter coming from that rink.
The bowlers also had a game of ‘fun bowls’ with Rina Harper, Linda Hewer and Lynn Carlyle giving Norman Moore, Dennis Holloway and Alan Bower a hiding with a score of 17–3 – the women rock. Gloria Rice, Bill Hewer and Brian Kimber beat Arthur Carlyle, Bryce Bower and Claude Newman 15–6.
On Sunday the club hosted the monthly ‘shirts and skirts’ breakfast competition. First session was won by Dennis Gericke, Dave McCann, Keith Wild and Greg McGuiness. Second session was won by John and Dot Fergusson, Buck Boetge and Aubrey Wardell. The overall winners were Harold Dix, Keith Nel, Ralph Mostert and John Campbell on a 4+24. The meat raffle was won by Gloria Rice. Ken Thomas won R40 from the first money board with Jeff Bolt taking the R20 and both wins on the second money board. Drawn prizes were skip – William Richardson, third – Claude Newman, second – Bill Hewer and lead David Lloyd. It was nice to have Eleanor Stewart back after a short illness.
On Saturday, 30 August the club hosts a chicken run. All bowlers and non bowlers are welcome. Hand in your names by 1.30pm to start play at 2pm at a charge of R10 each.
On Friday the meat draw was won by Derek Botha, Bill Hewer and Rob de Wildt. The snowball is another carry over as Ian Demmer was not there to grab the takings. The swindle was won by Cobus Janse Van Vuuren twice, Dennis Tarboton, George Moore, John Campbell, Dawn Moore, Abie Joubert, Dave Leuchars and Arlene Leuchars. The lotto bonus ball went to Andy Carstens.
