Andraschko’s bid Bluff farewell

The Andraschko’s are looking forward to adding 20 years to their lives living in the quiet countryside

Andy and Brenda Andraschko are leaving the Bluff shores for the peaceful countryside of Andy’s home country, Austria.

The couple are well-known on bowling greens, being former members of Bluff Bowling Club and for the last two years members of Durban Wanderers Bowling Club.

Andy and Brenda who both do Forex trading, met on the internet in January 2008.

Brenda (61) almost gave up on finding love on the internet when she received a message from Andy (61). Andy, a widower, was looking for a companion. “I couldn’t see myself alone after my wife died,” said Andy.

When Brenda tried to call Andy for the first time, he left his cellphone in his gym locker. Brenda was upset that he didn’t answer the phone call. Their second phone call to each other went much better. “I thought Brenda was spunky and I liked that about her,” said Andy.
Meeting people on the internet can be dangerous. “My family said I should take my .38 special with me just in case, she joked. I liked Andy for his honesty. I wanted someone who made me laugh. Andy and I always laugh together,” said Brenda.

She lived in Johannesburg and Andy’s been a Bluffite for 34 years. After a month of communication, they decided to meet in the Drakensberg. Andy survived their first meeting with no harm done by Brenda’s .38 special. It was a done deal from there. Andy and Brenda married in November 2008 and settled on the Bluff.

The couple have good advice for people seeking a love match on the internet. “Be honest and persevere. Life is too short to be serious,” said Brenda.

The competitive couple enjoyed being a part of Durban Wanderers. “It’s a big club and we have enjoyed the camaraderie and many facets of the club. Thank-you Wanderers, we made many friends,” said Andy.

Andy who worked for Telkom for 35 years said he will miss the nature reserves and people of South Africa. The Andraschko’s are looking forward to adding 20 years to their lives living in the quiet countryside. When the couple arrive in Austria, they want to build their dream home, which should be complete in six month.
