Reservist rewarded for commitment to service delivery

BRIGHTON Beach SAP bestowed the Diligent Service Award and Brighton Beach Safer Communities medal on Reservist Captain Avril Fabre for 18 years of service to the community on Monday, 29 September.
Reservist Capt Fabre was rewarded for her commitment to service delivery and making the Brighton Beach policing area safer.
She was appointed as the Brighton Beach branch commander for the reservists in less than three years of joining the reservists. Throughout her career, she has trained 26 stations’ reservists in the South Durban Basin and was appointment as the recruitment co-ordinator and training manager and administrative head for reservists. The 55-year-old was also crucial in the founding and functioning of the Brighton Beach SAP trauma unit.
According to Brighton Beach SAP communications officer, Capt Louise Le Roux, after 18 years of service, Reservist Capt Fabre shows no signs of slowing down. “She still patrols the streets day and night, attends to complaints, compiles case dockets for investigation purposes, makes arrests and actively participates in operations and public awareness campaigns which focus on the safety and wellbeing of women, children and the elderly,” said Capt Le Roux.
“What drives me is my passion for justice. Criminals don’t have the right to invade our homes and communities, making us live in fear every day. I find my work very rewarding, knowing I make a difference in my community in such a way. Knowing I can protect them and be of a service, doing it with pride, dignity and enthusiasm, which makes it such a rewarding experience every time I am on duty,” said Reservist Capt Fabre.
Brighton Beach SAP management congratulates Reservist Capt Fabre on her achievement of 18 years’ continuous diligent service towards the Brighton Beach community. “We express our since gratitude towards her for her continuous support towards our police station,” said Capt Le Roux.
