Visiting school duped with accommodation booking
On Wednesday, 1 October the school representatives arrived at the hotel and were greeted with disappointment.

KWA Shuku Secondary School pupils on a recent visit to the shores of Durban for a matric trip ahead of final matric exams, were shocked to find their accommodation wasn’t`all they expected it to be.
A teacher at the Mpumalanga school, Petunia Thwala, booked accommodation at a hotel in Clairwood to stay for two nights.
She gathered information from the hotel’s website and to double check on the information, she called the hotel to confirm all the details before booking.
Thwala later made her deposit payment of R11,000 for the accommodation for the teachers and students for two nights.
On Wednesday, 1 October the school representatives arrived at the hotel and were greeted with disappointment. “The hotel was not in a good condition and it was nowhere near the beach, which was what they had stated during the confirmation,” said Thwala.
When Thwala tried to explain to hotel management that this was not what they were told or had seen on the website, hotel management refused to take any responsibility for the mix-up. Thwala called Montclair SAP to help settle the dispute.
The school was refunded 70% of the money paid for accommodation with the help of police.
Repeated attempts to elicit comment from the hotel proved fruitless.
