Call for stricter laws after teen’s death
After the killing of a Wentworth teenager, the local councillor calls for a tougher stance.

WARD 68 councillor, Aubrey Snyman calls for stricter enforcement following the shooting death of a 19-year-old Wentworth boy on Saturday, 18 October.
While attending a party in Reiger Road, Samuel Fischer, was allegedly shot and killed by another party-goer.
“It really saddens me that our community has become a battlefield whereby every second weekend, innocent lives are being lost due to unnecessary violence, which most of the time is caused by abuse of alcohol and drugs. It is so unfortunate that an innocent young man had been caught in the line of fire because of others’ ill choices and misconduct,” said Snyman.
“I feel stricter measures need to be enforced on both firearm owners and the perpetrators should be given harsher sentences to forewarn any future renegades who wish to take the law into their own hands with these random shootings. I wish to express my deepest condolences to the family and I know that no words or actions can bring back the life of their loved one,” he added.
