Refinery helps ECD centres with first aid training

First aid skills for local teachers.

EARLY childhood development (ECD) centres in Wentworth go from strength to strength as teachers gain necessary first aid skills, thanks this time to Sapref.

Twenty-one ECD teachers from Wentworth, Umlazi and Lamontville were given the training, which is a requirement of the Department of Social Development. “Our ECD teachers have been trained on how to save a life using first aid. It has been a wonderful opportunity for us to re-assess the contents of our first aid kits and what is needed,” said mentor, Roselind Rose.

Save the Children, KZN provincial manager, Mari van der Merwe, who is involved in the Wentworth ECD Forum added: “Partnership is key and we are delighted that Sapref has addressed a real need for us. Their legacy of good corporate citizenship will continue to live long in the Wentworth ECD sector as this partnership has assisted us to not only comply with the government’s requirements but has also helped us to build on our good practice ECD model. The beneficiaries are the young children who are our future leaders from Wentworth and the surrounding communities.”
