South Durban collects 650 Santa shoeboxes

Each donor visits www.santashoebox.co.za and selects a child to donate a Santa Shoebox to.

THE South Durban community donated 650 Santa shoeboxes for the Santa Shoebox initiative.
The community dropped of their Santa Shoeboxes at the COP offices from 30 October to 1 November.

As a result Santa Shoebox co-ordinator for the Bluff, Deirdre Denny and ‘Santa’s Elves’ surpassed their target of 631 boxes.
The mission of the initiative is to facilitate giving gifts to underprivileged children, to connect people and bring joy.
Each donor visits www.santashoebox.co.za and selects a child to donate a Santa Shoebox to.

The gift boxes are filled with some necessities such as toothpaste, toothbrush, face cloth and soap as well as sweets, educational supplies, a toy and an outfit of clothing.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who pledged and dropped off their boxes, Grosvenor Boys, Durban Academy and Durban Girls High Schools, Brighton Beach Senior Primary, Glenardle Junior Primary, Transnet, SA Navy, Protea Chemicals, Equifeeds KZN and Grosvenor Girls High School for the use of their  tables, Remax, centre manager of Hillside Mall and every individual who pledged and made the time and effort to make their box special,” said Denny.

Deirdre thanks the COP office for the use of their facility, Debonairs and Wimpy.
