Boy survives near drowning in Bluff

Rescue Care paramedics urges the public to ensure you either have a safety net over your pool or proper fencing, as drowning incidents happen in a split second.

A 10-year-old boy has been given another chance at life after he slipped and fell into a pool on Christmas Eve on the Bluff.

“Rescue Care and Berg Medical Services found bystanders had saved the young boy’s life. The boy had been playing near the pool when he slipped and fell into the water. Bystanders immediately jumped in and rescued him and performed excellent CPR and managed to regain a pulse. The boy was assessed by advanced life support paramedics and stabilised before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care,” said Rescue Care operations director, Garrith Jamieson.
