Calls for improved parking at clinic
Local councillor calls for better parking for patients.
THE Bluff Clinic Committee has started the year in full swing, with its first meeting ending with a call for improved parking facilities for patients.
On Wednesday, 21 January the committee met to discuss the needs of the clinic and its patients. One of the main topics of contention was the lack of parking space.
“Currently there are only six bays available within the clinic grounds, which results in patients having to park on the verge outside,” said clinic committee chairman and ward 66 councillor, Duncan Du Bois.
Du Bois has written to Eugene Naidoo of the municipality’s Road Traffic Management department suggesting the verge opposite the clinic be developed for diagonal parking.
“If the verge above the intersection of Brixham and Donegal roads through to Bluff Road is cut back, it should be possible to create up to 10 diagonally placed parking bays. Such a facility will not only improve convenience for users of the clinic but also enhance the safety factor,” he said.
