Bluff CPF gears up for festive season

Bluff CPF urged residents and visitors to take proactive measures to protect themselves, their families and their property.

THE Bluff Community Policing Forum (CPF) held a successful festive season planning recently.

The meeting was attended by law enforcement agencies, private security stakeholders and community structures and trauma debriefers.

The Bluff CPF treasurer, Sidney Govindsamy, said the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration and increasing visible security presence at:

  • The beaches, shopping malls and other busy public areas during the festive season to deter crime and promote public safety.

The CPF urged residents and visitors to take proactive measures to protect themselves, their families and their property.

“Residents and beachgoers are hereby advised that law enforcement agencies will be implementing strict enforcement of all applicable municipal by-laws,” said Govindsamy.

He said no tolerance will be afforded to violations or non-compliance.

“This includes but is not limited to consumption of alcohol in public areas where prohibited, unruly, disorderly or disruptive behaviour, any conduct that compromises public safety, disturbs other beachgoers or violates municipal by-laws,” he said.

Govindsamy said non-compliance will result in enforcement action, and offenders will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

“We urge all residents and visitors to act responsibly, respect the regulations and co-operate with law enforcement officials. The beaches are shared public spaces, and everyone has the right to enjoy them in a safe, peaceful and orderly environment. There will be no excuse for disregarding the law. Let us work together to ensure that our beaches remain safe and enjoyable for all.”

Some of the key safety recommendations that residents should take note of during the festive period

  • Secure all doors, windows and gates, activate alarm systems, arrange for trusted neighbours to monitor your property and avoid publicising travel plans on social media. Ensure household contents are adequately insured.
  • Keep valuables secure, park in well-lit areas, remain alert and always supervise children.
  • Swim only in designated areas under lifeguard supervision, follow safety instructions, supervise children and avoid leaving valuables unattended.
  • Crime Reporting: Report criminal incidents and suspicious activities promptly through official channels rather than relying solely on social media. Never confront suspected criminals.

The CPF emphasises that community safety is a shared responsibility.

The Bluff CPF called on all residents, businesses and visitors to work together to ensure a safe and secure festive season.
