School takes Thornhill House under its wing
The old age home is dependent on donations and is in urgent need of wheelchairs.

YELLOWWOOD Park Primary School donated much-needed items to Thornhill House on Tuesday, 24 February.
The school adopts a charity each term and this year as well as last year’s first term charity is Thornhill House old age home.
Yellowwood Park’s head prefect and staff visited the home and handed over toothpaste, towels, soaps and other items.
School deputy principal Sheryl Reid says charity projects such as this are important to create awareness. “I would encourage other schools to get involved in charity work. It teaches children awareness about helping people and awareness of giving of one’s self. It’s also a way to help people in the community,” she said.
Thornhill House re-opened in 2013 after being closed for three years and is managed by Khosi Njoko. Thornhill House is a Natal Settlers Memorial Home with 39 people. “Thank you to Yellowwood Park Primary School for these donations. We are grateful to the school and hope our relationship with you will grow,” said Njoko.
The old age home is dependent on donations and is in urgent need of wheelchairs. These help to assist people to hospital. They also need clothes and toiletries. If anyone wants to donate to Thornhill House, contact Khosi Njoko or head sister, Edna Mbesa on 031-826-7673.
