Suggestions to improve the Bluff

Our beaches are lovely and attract people from all over.

EDITOR – An open letter to Duncan du Bois.

The Bluff is really a good, clean and fairly safe suburb in comparison to others.

But I feel there are plenty of opportunities to make it even better.

There are two shopping malls and almost five shopping centres on the Bluff but not a single community park. A few years ago the community grounds opposite Checkers was in good nick but now it’s a no go area.

The vacant land at Kings Rest is also a good spot for a park but to see something like this becoming a reality is another story.

Our beaches are lovely and attract people from all over. Wouldn’t it be great to have two permanent beach volleyball courts on Ansteys and Brighton?

And wouldn’t it be even better if Foreshore Road could be extended to the ridge in Merebank?

Here again one hears rumours that something like this will take place but when is always a mystery to the man on the street.

Taxis are a menace to communities but we need taxis so if proper parking can be created in strategic areas and if leaders like yourselves engage with taxis owners and drivers to adhere to the rules, then I think there will be some harmony between all concerned.

Now for the biggie – the bridge linking the central CBD and the Bluff has been spoken about year on year. It’s sounds so practical and achievable and it can change the landscape of the Bluff pemanently in a truly positive manner.
