GOOD investigative work from Montclair SAPS’ W/O Rico Naidoo helped seal the conviction of a 19-year-old man who was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for murder.
Sifiso Gcwabaza (19) stabbed Vuyisa Kala (20) in Hayhurt Place, Woodlands on 2 March last year. Kala was rushed to hospital, but died due to his stab wounds.
On 25 March, W/O Naidoo had a breakthrough in the case and arrested Gcwabaza in Woodlands.
Gcwabaza was found guilty of murder in Durban Regional Court on Tuesday, 5 May. He was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment. The magistrate also declared him unfit to possess a firearm. “Montclair SAPS management commends W/O Naidoo on this conviction,” said communications officer Lt Leopold Jojozi.
