Litter cleaners must be properly instructed

The problems seem to be the cleaner’s instructions and who will do the scheduling.

EDITOR – Refering to the letter from Angela Peters regarding verge grass cutting and litter cleaning, about two years ago I wrote to the municipality in this regard, suggesting, firstly that the street cleaners be instructed to pick up the litter in the grass on the verge, since they only pick up the litter in the gutters (a case of ‘not my job?’).

The litter in the grass then just gets shredded, making the problem far worse.

Secondly these cleaners should be scheduled to collect the litter a day or two before the grass cutters are scheduled to do their cut.

I received a letter of thanks for the suggestion and at the next clean and cut it was done. Hooray.

The problem was, that it only happened once.

The problems seem to be the cleaner’s instructions and who will do the scheduling. Perhaps our councilors could try to talk to the municipality again in this regard.
