A FEUD between rival taxi associations reached boiling point on Thursday, 23 July when two men were shot in a confrontation in Montclair.
Involved in an alleged heated dispute over taxi routes, members of the Umlazi Taxi Association and their Chatsworth counterparts gathered in Montclair for a showdown that left two men hospitalised.
The Umlazi group stood in South Coast Road, while the assembly from Chatsworth gathered in Grimsby Road. Despite police presence, at about 7.45, business owners and bystanders ran for cover when two men from the Chatsworth Taxi Association opened fire at their rivals.
Police quickly quelled the gunfire and arrested the shooters. Two of the Umlazi Taxi Association members, who had been shot were taken to a nearby hospital.
