Over 320 sex crime arrests

IN honour of women’s month, arrest statistics were released by SAPS KZN media

IN honour of women’s month, arrest statistics from KZN Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) units were released by SAPS KZN media, with 329 people charged for sexual related offences.

During July, KZN FCS units arrested 329 people for abduction, assault, attempted murder, contravening of protection orders, domestic violence, kidnapping, rape and sexual assault.

“Detectives from the FCS units have been working tirelessly to ensure those that perpetrate crimes against our women and children are brought to book,” said Colonel Jay Naicker.

Courts also sentenced 54 people for sexual offences, including six life sentences with a total of 556 years of imprisonment during the same month. “Management at the FCS units welcome the maximum sentences handed down in most cases and appreciate that justice was delivered to the victims of these crimes.”
