Congress report-back for YWP WI
Many members made a visit to 7th Heaven on the Bluff to deliver fidget cushions and cakes, which were gratefully received.
YELLOWWOOD Park Women’s Institute (YWP WI) president Vanessa Wilesmith welcomed all members and visitors to the meeting and asked that thoughts be given to Dot Montocchio and Jean Donkin who are not well at the moment but whom everyone hopes to see soon.
The Mary Stewart Collect was sung in unison by all members.
The secretary gave her report and previous minutes were signed. There was a thank you letter from the SPCA in Toti for the YWP WI donations. The WI always tries to support this particular animal sanctuary. The treasurer’s report was read and members were reminded to pay if were were to attend the Christmas party which was scheduled early this year as the treasurer will be visiting Australia at the time.
Very able judge Linda Melson gave a full report on her attendance at Congress on YWP WI’s behalf and congratulations to her on the fact that she was asked to judge and also invited back next year. Linda said it was a stimulating Congress with many excellent speakers on all kinds of different subjects. One of the speakers stressed the point that one should write down all events in your life so these can be passed on to future generations.
The organisation of Congress and the accommodation was excellent, Linda recommends that as many members as possible should try to attend Congress once a year. Once gain the theme was to bring in new members to the wonderful Federation. There is so much to learn and great fellowship.
Tea duty for October will be Linda Melson, Norma Chaplin and Wendy Henderson.
Sales table will be Caryl Howard and Maria McDonald.
Thank you to all who assisted at Botanic Gardens and for the continued help of husbands with Meals on Wheels. Many thanks to all who assisted at the fair on 6 September. YWP will support again but only as a tea garden and white elephant stall.

The early Christmas party will be held on 8 November at the home of Wendy Henderson. The cost is R30 per person. Members are urged to take along their friends, chairs, crockery, cutlery, meat and beverages. The institute will supply delicious salads and desserts.
The raffle was drawn and birthday greetings extended to all who celebrate this month – have a happy time.
The meeting ended with the Women’s Institute prayer.
Competition results: The writer regrets that she has mislaid the actual results but congratulations to all who enter the competitions every month. YWP WI looks forward to seeing all members at its next meeting on the last Monday of October. Do go along and enjoy fellowship.
