Stainbank WI gets jolly for Christmas
Very unfortunately and unhappily, this will be the last concert with Heather Sumpton and Shirley Kruger who have been in the choir for 15 years and more.
STAINBANK Women’s Institute’s president Arlene Greenfield opened the Christmas party meeting with greetings to all members and guests and to executive member Maureen Lavis.
What a pleasure it was to see all members.
Thoughts were of course with those not present at the time. After the singing of Unity by all members in full voice, the Women’s Institute prayer was read.
Many thanks were extended to committee members who always assist so willingly at these events and to Beattie Johnston Webber for the floral arrangements A few domestic notices were read and then it was on with the raffle. Thanks to all who donated gifts.
Special thanks to Margaret Croshaw who donates the big prize every month. WI was reminded that there will be a carol service at Coedmore Castle on 20 December.
Then it was time to celebrate birthdays of those members marking their birthdays in December and January. Congratulations to Gladys Knapp who is celebrating 66 years of marriage, a true record. Lyn Graham and Heather Sumpton gave a short music quiz which had everyone humming.
Tea time was next, with tables loaded with all sorts of goodies. Thanks again to the tea members. After tea it was on with the entertainment. Very unfortunately and unhappily, this will be the last concert with Heather Sumpton and Shirley Kruger who have been in the choir for 15 years and more. They are really going to be missed.
The choir entertained everyone with songs and melodies they have performed over the years. Thank yous were extended for all the rehearsals and the work put into the show. The meeting ended with good wishes to all members and friends for the Christmas season and into the New Year.
Stainbank WI looks forward to seeing every member at the February meeting in 2016.
