Police net fleeing burglars

Local police react quickly and catch criminals.

RAPID responding police quickly collared two thieves on the Bluff on Friday, 19 February.

When an alert of a housebreaking at a Marshal Road home was circulated, Brighton Beach SAPS’ Constables Busi Malinga, Mlungisi Chiya, Xolani Mrauw and Zanele Msani and Warrant Officer Robert Dean, who were all on patrol, were quick to respond.

Csts Malinga, Chiya and Mrauw were given a description of the two thieves when they arrived at the burgled home. W/O Dean and Cst Msani, who were nearby, joined them in search of the men.

On Ettrick Avenue, two men fitting the description were seen. W/O Dean and Cst Mrauw made the arrests after chasing the men on foot. They found jewellery that had been stolen during the housebreaking on the men.

The 28-year-old and 42-year-old men appeared in Durban Regional Court on charges of housebreaking and theft and were remanded in police custody for further investigations.

Brighton Beach SAPS management commends the members on their prompt response to the complaint and the successful arrest and recovery of the stolen items.
