School pays tribute to retiring bursar

We wish her love, laughter and happiness as she embarks on her new adventure

GLENARDLE Junior Primary School bade a heartfelt farewell to its ‘mother’ and ‘sheriff’ at the end of the second term.

School bursar, Beverley Pullen retired after 24 years at the school. She started as school secretary, raising five daughters who went through the school, and leaves as a grandmother of 10.

Her compassion and dedication to the school are some of the qualities the staff, parents, governing body and children will miss.

During a special assembly in her honour, the pupils expressed the innate characteristics ‘Mrs Pullen’ possessed and how much she had meant to them:

“Mother – someone who treats everyone with kindness and love

Radio host – someone who always lets us know what’s going on

Sheriff – someone who keeps our school safe

Problem solver- someone who helps us to find answers

Umpire – someone to keep us from pulling each other’s hair out!!

Leader – Someone who motivates everyone around them

Listener – someone who listens to ALL our problems.

Educator – someone who teaches us manners and what’s right

Nurse – someone who makes us feel better when we are sick

Add these ‘someone’s’ together and you get Mrs Pullen. We love you Mrs Pullen.”

“She has left behind a legacy, leaving our school a better place than when she found it and that in itself will remain a lasting tribute to her professionalism. We wish her love, laughter and happiness as she embarks on her new adventure – her retirement with her husband, Jeff,” said the school.
