VOLUNTEERS are needed to come to the aid of the Montclair Victim Support Centre (VSC), which is short-staffed and in need.
Brenda Neal, co-ordinator of the centre which is based at Montclair police station, appeals for help from anyone aged 35 years and older, preferably stay-at-home community members. “We are a volunteer based staff who dedicate our time to help those in need and who are dealing with trauma. We serve our community and help heal those who are hurting,” she said.
The VSC team deals with a variety of concerns and all cases are referred by Montclair SAPS. Those who are interested are only required to be great listeners and a people’s person. Volunteers will work four hours once a week.
“If they enjoy volunteering they are welcome to work more hours and be on call for any situation. At the end of the day it is a rewarding job, knowing that you have helped someone in their time of need. Be a part of the change we are trying to bring in people’s lives,” she added.
