Company’s efforts cement school facelift

A WORLDWIDE initiative started by Brazilian cement company, Intercement saw local Montclair school, Ningizimu Special School get a facelift thanks to the partnership of companies which banded together on Sunday, 28 August to paint the school.
Among the companies which came together to assist Ningizimu are BME, Unitrans, Impact and NPC, to name a few.
The day was marked all over the world where Intercement co-ordinated similar efforts in communities in which it works, along with its partners.
Ningizimu, which was identified by NPC, received the wonderful gift as hundreds of employees from each company spent the day beautifying the school. Principal, Sibongile Ngubane is thankful for the good work done for her school. “As it was Sunday – a day for doing good – these people have fulfilled the true meaning of humanity. My school is looking brand new and I’m sure when the pupils come to school on Monday, they will be amazed. We at Ningizimu appreciate all that is being done here and I thank everyone who came out today to support us. I wish more people from the community would follow by example and help others, just as NPC and other companies have helped us today,” she said.

Montclair Business Forum was roped in by NPC to help with the site preparation for Sunday, according to Ndumiso Thabede who was at the school since Monday, 22 August. “My team and I were involved with prepping work, such as plastering and general building so when Sunday came, the volunteers just had to paint the school. It was a very good initiative,” he said.
Senior contracts manager from Unitrans, Keith Louwes said being the official transport contractors of cement, his company contributed paint and tiles towards the project. “It is wonderful to see the scores of people that came out on Sunday, it was a good idea and well planned. The children will appreciate what we have done for them,” he said.
