RC drifting takes over nation

RC drifting is becoming increasingly popular countrywide, and Durban has its very own local team, the East Coast drift crew

CAPE TOWN took the crown at the national remote control drifting event which was attended by teams from Durban, Johannesburg and Rustenburg on Saturday, 27 August.

The first nationals held in Durban at the new race track at the back of Montclair Wanderers Club drew a crowd of remote control (RC) enthusiasts who came to compete and compare their remote control cars.

Tough competition ensued, as all teams adopted a competitive and winning spirit. At the end, the Capetonian team came out on top and was crowned RC drifting kings of 2016.

RC drifting is becoming increasingly popular countrywide, and Durban has its very own local team, the East Coast drift crew. The crew hopes the new and improved track in Montclair will encourage more enthusiasts or youngsters who are interested in the sport to join. “It is fun and a great chance to meet people and make new friends,” said drifter Roheet Nagar.

New members are welcome to join in this hobby which is apparently simple to master. “Come and learn. We are here to teach anyone about RC drifting and help the sport grow,” he added.
