Woodlands burglaries irk residents

"We need more patrols in the area and we need a quicker response from police,"

A HOUSE robbery in Woodlands has left the victim shaken and angered at the invasion which took place while she was at work on Monday, 14 November.

According to the woman, this was not the first time her house or the area was targeted by criminals.

“It’s twice now and my neighbour has been hit four times this year. It’s pathetic to know these strangers have no qualm about invading our homes and our private space to steal from us. It is wrong – I worked hard to have what I have and for someone to just take that away from me is disturbing,” she exclaimed.

She believes the house robberies happen between 9am and noon, when most of the residents are at work. “I was at work when this happened and I had to rush back home. We need more patrols in the area and we need a quicker response from police,” she said.

Another Woodlands resident who left his home for three weeks, returned home on Friday, 11 November to find his aircons, copper pipes and taps had been stolen. “The window was damaged and used to gain entry. No-one was living on the property as it is on sale, so criminals saw this as an opportunity to strip the place,” said Montclair SAPS communication officer, Cpt Dereck Vijiam.
