UPDATE: Entrapped man rescued after vehicle plunges off bridge

He was stabilised as the scene before being cut free from the wreckage

A MAN travelling southbound on the N2 was trapped in his vehicle after it plunged off the N2 bridge at the NPC cement factory.

Emergency services used the jaws of life to free the man from the wreckage of his vehicle.

The man, who is likely in his 20s, sustained moderate injuries after his vehicle plummeted off the bridge, landing next to a train line below. Paramedics were called at about 1.15pm and found him entrapped in the vehicle which was on its side.

He was stabilised as the scene before being cut free from the wreckage by the SAPS search and rescue and other rescuers.  Once freed, he was taken to a nearby hospital.
