Man (50) critical after fall

Paramedics placed him on a ventilator before immobilising him on a trauma board and transporting him to hospital

At around noon on Thursday, 22 December paramedics were called to an incident at a construction site in Island View.

Reports from the scene indicate the 50-year-old man fell down metal stairs on the outside of the building.

Netcare 911 paramedics who responded found the man lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries. The medical team worked fervently to stabilise him, placing him on a ventilator. They immobilised him on a trauma board and transported him to a specialised hospital in Durban for further care.
