Smiles for miles thanks to Smile Foundation and Ushaka
Uyanda who was born with a cleft lip and a cleft palate was left smiling from ear to ear thanks to NGO, Smile Foundation.

With the help of Raecine Bates, an Ushaka Animal Behavourist from Merebank, seven-year-old Uyanda got up close and personal with Ushaka Sea World’s dolphin Kelpie on Friday, 19 May.
Uyanda who was born with a cleft lip and a cleft palate was left smiling from ear to ear thanks to NGO, Smile Foundation that helped her undergo three corrective surgeries over the last five years.


Labello of Beiersdorf South Africa (based in Durban) covered the cost of Uyanda’s flight from Johannesburg to Durban to meet the team. She also visited uShaka Marine World and swam in the sea for the first time.

From June this year, R2 from the sale of Labello’s limited edition, Beautiful Smile dual packs will go to Smile Foundation. A further R1 for every photo or video uploaded to Facebook or Instagram using the hastag #LabelloSmileChallenge will be donated.
The goal is to raise R220 000 for the Smile Foundation by the end of September 2017, to help other children like Uyanda, who are suffering from facial abnormalities.
