Yellowwood Park WI soaks up advice from judges

THE Yellowwood Park Women’s Institute (WI) meeting was opened with the WI prayer and then a big welcome from president Sharon Quail to all members.

This included a hearty welcome to guest judge Bev Nathras and Linda Melson.

The secretary’s report was read and a finance report from the treasurer. Many thanks to all members who assist every month with the sales table, which helps so much with the finance.

A thank you letter was received from Toti SPCA for the many items collected for sale in their charity shop. They say every little bit helps. Thanks also to the WI’s Meals on Wheels volunteers.

Speaker Bev Nathras gave an enlightening and informative talk on entering the Congress competitions. She said how pleased she was that Yellowwood Park WI had entered the Royal Show for the first time and done rather well. Ensure that all entries for the Congress competitions are with Linda Melson well before the due date. Members should take note of all the advice given before entering the competitions, especially the advice about craft and handicraft by the judge.

The next big date is the WI’s 49th birthday party, the theme of which is cowboy. The WI looks forward to seeing all members and friends on 29 August.

The meeting closed early with the message to go well and stay safe.
