Speakers inspire at women’s outreach event
The event was extended to women from the Durban South Basin and was well supported.
BLUFF women were enlightened, motivated and empowered under the leadership of Lee-Ann Nair of Trinity Family Church Bluff and of the Women of Wisdom (WOW) Organisation during a women’s conference and outreach entitled Body, Soul and Spirit on Saturday, 12 August.
The well supported event was open to women from the Durban South Basin.
Some 75 women attended the event, which took place at the Marine Drive premises of the church.
The vision of the conference and outreach was to impart, impact and empower women from the community to play a more significant role as women and mothers in their homes and communities, said co-ordinator, Lee-Ann Nair. The programme consisted of a free medical assessment, screening and dynamic talks by influential leaders from different sects of society. The line-up of motivational speakers included Diana Nair of Trinity Family Church, Rochelle Govender of ABC Ministries, Sharin Rajman of Helping Hands, Patricia Dove of Family Resource Centre and Nandia Bloem of Curves Bluff.
Nair said WOW was formally founded to be a platform and resource to all women of society including the vulnerable, abused and less privileged. “With the alarming rate of discrimination and abuse against women in our country we don’t want the South Basin to be part of the ever-increasing statistic. We also want the voiceless to know there is hope and people that care. Social cohesion within the South Basin is also part of our vision,” added Nair.
