Beetle drive brings fun to YWPWI
Unfortunately we were let down by the expected speaker and despite many efforts were unable to arrange a speaker at such short notice.
YELLOWWOOD Park Women’s Institute (WI) president Arlene Greenfield welcome everyone to the monthly meeting, where unfortunately a number of members were absent but they were wished well.
Apologies were read out before secretary Barbara Illsey read out thank you letters from the Salvation Army and their own special Evelyn House.
There was also a letter from Kitty Care thanking YWP WI for its donation.
The minutes of the last meeting were taken as read and the treasurer Linda Hewer confirmed that the WI is solvent. Best wishes to members’ families, some of whom are getting married and are engaged. A big thank you to all members who are continually knitting beanies, scarves and booties for the children and to the knitters who continually produce mittens for the Seafarers, which are always welcome.
Unfortunately the WI was let down by the expected speaker and despite many efforts, another speaker could not be arranged at such short notice. Maureen Lavis, executive member, gave everyone a detailed report on the recent Congress meeting which proved successful, with many more members entering the competitions. Woodlands WI won the raffle at Congress. Many thanks to all members who made the effort to enter competitions and to Koulla who did well.
Then it was on with the beetle drive, which was great fun, with everyone trying to get the first six to start. Lynne and Beattie were the winners. Birthday greetings and anniversaries were read out. The vice president then called out the winners of the raffle, swindle, and R40 club and announced all the competition results. A big thank you to the judges. The meeting closed with the WI prayer.
