Police spotted the two men and gave chase when the men started to run.

A FOOT chase led Wentworth SAPS to nab two men for being in possession of unlicensed guns and ammunition on Thursday, 22 February.
At about 9.30pm, task team members Constable Brandin Baiddo and Commander Captain Lynton Houston received a complaint about two men walking along Himalayas Road, allegedly peeping into the houses.

When the policemen responded, they spotted the two men and gave chase when the men started to run. “The policemen caught both of them. A 38-year-old man who had a bag tied around his waist was found with a revolver and live ammunition. He failed to produce a licence for the items,” said Wentworth SAPS communication officer, Capt Mbuso Gumede.

He was charged for unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. A search of the second man revealed three rounds of live ammunition in his back pocket. He was charged for unlawful possession of ammunition.
Both men were arrested and detained in the Wentworth police cells and appeared in Wentworth court on Friday, 23 February.
The gun will be sent for ballistics testing, to establish whether it had been used in the commission of any crimes.
