Sardine season continues on South Coast

Swimming is still banned on all local beaches.

This has been the most prolific year for sardines on the South Coast.

On Wednesday morning, 18 July netters were still busy in Scottburgh and Kelso according to KZN Sharks Board’s Mike Anderson-Reade. “There has also been activity in Pennigton but strangely nothing north of Umkomaas and south of Pennington for a while. It seems like they are hanging around in the Umkomaas and Scottburgh area,” he said.

Sharks nets will be replaced in Umzumbo, Margate and St Lameer later in the day (Wednesday) but for now there will continue to be no nets in the Toti area and swimming is still banned on all local beaches.
