Alcohol awareness in the spotlight
Remember there might be a legal limit for drinking and driving, but there is no safe limit

BRIGHTON Beach SAP embarked on an alcohol awareness campaign on Thursday, 6 February, due to an increase in alcohol-related offences on the Bluff, especially among the youth.
“There has been an increase in drinking and driving cases being registered within our policing area, and more juveniles are being found intoxicated,” said Brighton Beach SAP communications officer Captain Le Roux.
In partnership with ADT Security Services and the management and tenants of the Hill Side Mall and Bluff Towers, Cpt Le Roux and Brighton Beach SAP liquor officer, Warrant Officer Theo van Noordwyk distributed brochures to shoppers.
These brochures included contributing factors which lead to children drinking alcohol, its risks and the effect it has on them and those around them. In it, parents are also encouraged to ensure they know the whereabouts of their children at all times.
“If you suspect, or know your child is addicted to alcohol, get help for them. If you are alcohol dependant or know of someone that is, get help. Before you get behind the wheel while intoxicated, think of the repercussions. Remember there might be a legal limit for drinking and driving, but there is no safe limit,” said Cpt Le Roux.
