Yellowwood Park sector forum turns taps off on water meter thieves

The WhatsApp groups are divided into four zones, due to the size of Yellowwood Park.

THE Yellowwood Park Woodhaven Sector Policing Forum (SPF) urges residents to join their Whatsapp crime groups to give them a platform to report criminal activities and stay aware of what is happening in the area.

This comes after water meter theft has spiked in the area.
To curb the recent crimes of water meter theft, a patrolling team from the SPF combed the area in search of the perpetrators.

Chairman of the Yellowwood Park Woodhaven SPF Kevin Matthews said on Monday, 25 February there were three meters taken in Yellowwood Park and another seven stolen on Tuesday. “The patrollers put together a group of people and patrolled until 1am the next morning. We patrol the areas up until the Old Mill Road. We held an operation for a couple of nights in the hope of catching the criminals, which we did in the early hours of Wednesday morning,” he said. One criminal was handed over to the police for processing.

Water meters have also gone missing in the Seaview area which caused thousands of litres of water to be lost as a result.

The WhatsApp groups are divided into four zones, due to the size of Yellowwood Park. Kevin urged the residents who are not on the crime awareness groups to get onto them. Residents can email Kevin or Sharon Van Niekerk and they will send them a link which allocate them to their zones. To join the groups or for more details, email ywpwhspf@gmail.com or Kevin Matthews on kevin.matthews@regalgroup.co.za or Sharon on sharonvn@polka.co.za.
