Keeping an eye on Bluff crime
The crime report for the month, mentioned that crime in Brighton Beach policing prescient was relatively low.
CRIME and matters of public concern were on the agenda at the Bluff Community Policing Forum(CPF) meeting chaired by vice chairman Andy Rossell, ward 66 Cllr JP Prinsloo, Bluff CPF Youth Desk chairman Charles Leaven and Brighton Beach Police members, at the police station boardroom on Tuesday, 14 May.

After welcoming community members in attendance and the reading of the previous meeting’s minutes, a crime report was read by Captain Mathonsi. The crime report for the month, mentioned that crime in Brighton Beach policing prescient was relatively low. However, Uber hijackings, motor vehicle and business robberies were quite persistent. Yard hoppers and people pushing trolleys with stolen goods were also noted as being an issue in the month of April.

In light of the recent storm and the municipal strike that left most of the Bluff in turmoil with several leaks, blockages and no refuse collection, JP addressed the community regarding poor service delivery issues that were brought up. Charles informed those in attendance about the implementation of the youth desk which involves youth aged between 18-35 years, as a proactive approach to encourage younger people to get involved in civic matters in the community.
