SOUTHLANDS Sun welcomes its newest editorial member, Thobele Nzama. The reserved 26-year-old from Umlazi says writing is her calling and she is ready and armed with a pen, notepad, and camera to churn out your local news.
“One of my biggest writing challenges yet is writing an article about myself, I think I’m better at writing about everything else other than myself which is why I am excited to meet the South Coast Sun community,” she said.
“While I’m still getting acquainted with my colleagues and my new newsroom, I am very familiar with Caxton community newspapers, having previously worked as a reporter for the Queensburgh News for two years.” She matriculated in 2010 from Brettonwood High School and graduated with a national diploma in journalism in 2015 and a Bachelor of technology in journalism degree from the Durban University of Technology in 2017.
She is a proud blood donor having recently made her 27th donation and she believes blood donation should be everyone’s business. “If you meet the requirements, I strongly encourage you to pull up your sleeves and save a potential of three lives or more.
“I think a pen is indeed mightier than a sword and I’ve seen people’s lives change for the better through the power of local media reporting. I’m very excited to be able to do this all over again,” she added.
If you have news to share with the community, give Thobele a call on 031-903-2341 or e-mail her at thobele@dbn.caxton.co.za.
