Gift life this Mandela month at SANBS Southway Mall

The donation process takes about half an hour, and your selfless act could potentially save three lives.

WHAT if the South African National Blood Service ran out of blood, would you buy a pint from a street vendor if you needed it? This is a question brilliantly posed to South Africans in one of the blood service’s ad campaigns urging people to donate blood. This leads to the next question, when was your last donation?

To quote Abraham Lincoln, “next to creating a life, the finest thing a man can do is save one” and SANBS Southway Mall is giving you the chance to be a hero this Mandela month. For the month of July, donors will be entered into a lucky draw after each donation to stand a chance to win a hamper filled with SANBS novelties. The draw takes place on Friday, 2 August.

“Our numbers have dropped a bit here at the centre and most of those are lapsed donors meaning they don’t donate blood anymore. Our aim is to revive those lapse donors and get our blood stocks up again because holidays are the worst time of the year as blood is needed all the time due to accidents,” Rhoda Parker of SANBS.

The donation process takes about half an hour, and your selfless act could potentially save three lives. Visit the Southway Mall SANBS branch to make your donation to stand a chance of winning a hamper. For more information, call 031 459 0986 or visit the centre from 9am to 5pm weekly or from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
