was a busy day for members who attended the club’s annual general meeting.

The promotion and development bowls played at 2.30pm every Wednesday at Wentworth Bowling Club continues to attract an ever growing group of enthusiasts who have been bitten by the bias bug and continue to take the challenge to win the weekly contests.

This week saw the greens filled with the biggest gathering this year and it was Johnny ‘Mooiman’ du Plessis and Gerard Dennis who topped the leader board. Amelia Booysen and Mike Rehman shared the booty from the 60/40 board. Friday’s Tomasina men’s casual bowls was a profitable outing for Rob de Gouveia and Ivor Aylward who led the field with a +13 ahead of Graham Bransby, Clive Hein and Wayne Booysen who finished the morning on a +10. Brian Smith, Harvey Simpkins and Ron Addinall took home the sportsmen’s prize. Ken Koch took home the raffled large, family pie and fresh bread baked by Fred’s Kitchen and Wayne Booysen and Christina Smith share the pickings from the 60/40 board.

The presentation culminated in the recognition of the men’s and women’s open singles champions and the victor and victrix ludorum. Troy Garland was the worthy recipient of both the men’s awards and Sharon de Kock both the women’s awards.

The community is reminded of Wentworth Bowling Club’s 80th birthday tournament on Sunday, 24 November. The public is welcome to enjoy the tournament, grab a bite off the menu from Fred’s Kitchen and buy some goodies from a few craft, pickle and baking stalls.
