Bluff Bowling Club players showed their metal and played in testing conditions this past weekend.
There were six competition matches played which culminated in the following results. In the men’s nominated pairs Gary Moffat and Deon Els defeated George Nel and Clint Duncan and Ken Fann and Noel Morel accounted for Brian Osman and Ian Hayes while Spider Williams and Johnny Goosen beat Eddie Human and Sheldon Wicks.
In the mixed drawn pairs tournament Gary Moffat teamed up with June Foster to beat Elize Stapelberg and Harvey Simpkin while Ron Addinal and Paula Osman defeated Bridget White and Kurt Spack.
On Friday night, 8 November, the joker draw was yet again a carryover as Steve Larkin won the right to pick a card, but he didn’t reveal the elusive card and the pot now stands at R1 810.
The lotto pool has now reached R1 000 as there were no winning tickets either. Robert Mhlongo would have won the attendance draw, but he had gone away for the weekend and forfeited the prize.
Next Saturday, 16 November, will see two men’s competition finals being played as Jorge Santos, Eddie Human, Ryan Warren and Ian Hayes take on Robert Mhlongo, Brian Osman, Harvey Simpkin and George Nel in the fours final while in the trips final Greg Dorrofield, Deon Els and Ron Addinal are up against Robbie Johnston, Noel Morel and Michael Schudel. Both matches are scheduled for 1.30pm.
On Saturday morning the semi-final of the men’s nominated pairs will be played between Gary Moffat and Deon Els and Spider Williams and Johnny Goosen.
The Fabricon pairs competition is being held on Wednesday afternoon, 13 November, and the Grand Rapid Spur any pairs competition is scheduled for Sunday morning, 16 November.
The Christmas dinner will be held on Friday, 13 December, and there are only 100 tickets available at the cost of R150, see June Foster to book your place at the table.
On a sad note the club notifies all that a grand doyen of the club, Yvonne Johnston, has passed on.
Yvonne was a life member and one of the clubs finest players and personalities, she will be sorely missed.
The club offers its sincere condolences to Robbie Johnston and family for their loss.
