Youth inspired to create a brighter future

The focus for the initiative was to build the community's youth and encourage them to do more for themselves in order to build a brighter and solid future that is not defined by their present challenges.

THE Ward 66 Youth Development portfolio and music group, DTiPO.WeLive in partnership with Bokang Saudi hosted a youth upliftment programme for St Monica’s Children’s Home on Saturday, 16 November.

The focus for the initiative was to build the community’s youth and encourage them to do more for themselves in order to build a brighter and solid future that is not defined by their present challenges. Blak Bornfree of DTiPO.WeLive and the youth chairperson of ward 66, said that this was the group’s way of giving back to their local community.

We want the youth to be motivated to get and do things for themselves without depending a lot on other people to get things done for them.

“We want them to discover and make use of their talents, while being respectful, upholding a sense of integrity and finding their place in their community and the world. As DTiPO we also come from disadvantaged backgrounds and want to share our experiences and knowledge of what we have learnt and where we’re headed in terms of curating a bright future.

The children were also taught about fitness and how to keep healthy in a fun interactive session by instructor, Bokang Saudi from Virgin Active. St Monica’s director, Althea Daniels expressed her gratitude towards the organising members for the youth upliftment programme which was enjoyed by the children.
