Hijackers dump motorist in KwaMashu

No arrests have been made.

A MAN was hijacked on Finfoot Street in Woodhaven as he was leaving his home on Monday, 20 January. According to Blue Security’s community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, the incident happened at about 12.30pm.

“Suspects driving a VW Polo hijacked the motorist at his home. The motorist was about to get into his vehicle to leave his property when two suspects approached him and forced him into his vehicle. They jumped into his vehicle and took him with them to KwaMashu where they eventually dropped him off,” he said.

Mathios added that the man’s wife was then informed of the incident before filing a report with the police.

Spokesperson for Montclair SAPS, captain Derek Vijiam, said the man was parked outside his property when the incident occurred.

“He then went to close the garage gate and as he was returning to his vehicle, a white VW Polo Vivo, old model, parked behind his car. Two unknown men got out of the Polo and pointed firearms at him. The suspects put the victim at the back seat of his vehicle and forced him to lie down. They then drove away with him and along the way, he was robbed of his cellphone. Suspects drove until KwaMashu K section where the victim was dropped off where he was assisted by a member of the public to call his wife,” said Vijiam.

In a separate incident, a pizza delivery man on a scooter was robbed at gunpoint on Glanville Road. The robbers were also in an older model Polo Vivo hatchback, as described by captain Vijiam.

No arrests have been made.
