League game takes Brighton tennis team to finals

The team now advance to play against Westville Tennis Club in a game anticipated for Saturday, 29 February.

AN EXCITING game of women’s league tennis was played on Saturday, 22 February at Brighton Tennis Club. The over 40 category consisted of two pools and with seven of the nine games won, the local club finished top of their pool. They now advance to play against other pool winners Westville Tennis Club in a game anticipated for Saturday, 29 February.

“Brighton played against some tough competition from five different clubs and did well to come top of the log. The final hurdle will be against the Westville club this coming weekend. The over 40s men’s team has had some tough tennis and unfortunately, have not been as successful as the women but have had some very close results thus far,” said Fiona Grandin of Brighton Tennis Club.

Adults wanting to play tennis are welcome to approach the club as there is a resident coach, Natalie Grandin, available to give lessons for groups or privately. Group coaching is on Wednesday evenings from 4.30pm to 6pm for children. For more about the coaching, contact Natalie on 081-088-3858.

Courts are also open for hire with a resident caretaker who is available to open them. The garden area for children’s parties is also available for hire. E-mail the club at brightontennisclub@gmail.com.
