Fynnland FC claim victory at pre-season tournament
The final whistle blew with the score at 6 - 0 in favour of Fynnlands FC.
THE game between Yellowwood Park FC Falcons and Yellowwood Park FC Hawks, on Saturday afternoon, 7 March, saw both teams enthusiastically take to the field.
Just minutes into the game, Falcons scored their first goal owing to the blunder that was made by their counterparts. The scorching sun gave the teams an even greater challenge which saw players slowing their pace down but it was the Hawks who felt the heat the most after their opponents scored their second goal with displays of great foot and teamwork.
With two goals down by the second half, the Hawks had mounting pressure to redeem themselves. The team displayed great skills that paid off as they had secured two goals at the end of the game. The final whistle was blown signaling the end of the game and the score was 2 – 2.
Just minutes after, another exhilarating game was played on the same field between Fynnlands FC and Ridgeview FC from Merebank.
Both teams settled down and held possession which resulted in a quick goal for Fynnland. The second goal was an own goal scored by a Ridgeview player who was under pressure and tried to clear a ball in his goal area but instead put it in his own nets.
The Fynnlands side dominated both halves and scored some well-constructed goals. One of the goals scored was due to a foul committed by a Ridgeview player in their big-box area and Fynnlands were awarded a penalty which resulted in another goal finding the nets. The final whistle blew with the score at 6 – 0 in favour of Fynnlands FC.
“Fynnlands were the better team on the day and deserved the victory. Well done to all the clubs that played on Saturday and thank you to everyone who has supported the tournament so far,” said coach, Craig Inngs.
Wednesday, 11 March night’s fixture in the Yellowwood Park FC pre-season tournament starts at 7.30pm between the Ywp FC All-Stars and Woodhurst FC at the Yellowwood Park Sports Club.
